So there I was, waiting for my dad. I knew that if he missed this trip it would be for something really, really important.
That didn’t mean I liked the idea of it.
Standing in the airport, ticket in hand, just waiting for what looked like the inevitable.
He was so not making father of the year for this.
“Hey.”
I froze and turned. Yep, that’s who I thought I’d heard. “Hey yourself.”
Why’d he have a ticket in his hand a bag at his feet?
Not that I’m complaining.
Unless he’s about to skip town and this is goodbye.
Don’t laugh, it could happen. I’ve learned that - anything is possible when it comes to my life.
Logan ran a hand through his hair, giving me one of those sheepish smiles that I really do love.
“Your dad - something came up. He didn’t want you going by yourself.”
“Ah,” I said, smiling. So no skipping out on me just when it’s looking like our relationship might actually work.
He took my hand, squeezing it as he picked up his bag.
I would have loved to take this trip with my dad.
But the alternative?
Well, I can live with it.
