Increased the word count to 18,000. I thought perhaps extra 1k would suffice but I don't want to restrict myself. It shoudl be enough room to flesh out the climax and the ending. (note to self: do
I am also marking what need to be rewritten in the first half of the story as I go along: that might increase the word count to 20,000.
I realize now that the process I will perform is re-write, not a revision. Semantics, I'm sure, but this should help me distinguish what hat I should be wearing. My goal will be to wrap up LR next week then put it away for some time.
A month and a half for a short story. I may have to revise my goal of submitting 12 stories by the end of the year.
I had a story in mind that I wrote a little note on my cell phone. Yesterday, I started a freewriting for it. First ten lines of the story, actually. It sounds alright so hopefully the story will work out somehow.
And now the hard part: wait until I'm done with all the current projects, finish writing the piece, revise it like there is no tomorrow, edit it like there was no yesterday, then submit it to some place like Heroic Fantasy Quarterly. Visceral!
