Interdimensional Time Parallels

Forgot to add this on to the earlier (and by "earlier" I mean posted five mintues ago) entry, but I was reading through old journals today for fun and stumbled across the several pages of Woolrich paper jammed into one of them chronicling my stay at Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, or PFEW for the cool kids.

I'm fairly certain that was a run-on.

Anyway, I was particularly intrigued by the people and situations that mirror my time at UD.  Granted, Delaware spanned a whole academic year while PFEW was a measly seven days, but still.  I even now talk to some of the people from that adventure (like Janel, for example), but I don't really think about it because the whole experience seems so out of place with the rest of my life.  I felt slightly out of place the whole time, despite enjoying myself thoroughly, because at that point in my life (summer after sophomore year), I wasn't ready for college.  I was a much different person by the end of senior year and those two extra years of fake thugs and ugly sluts, however, and I welcomed college with open arms.

Okay, so general similarities first:

1. crazy overseer person, who, by the end of the time there, is completely igorned by all under his juristdiction because of outlandish idiosyncracies. i.e. George's obsession with ducks; Ben's proclivity for feminine activities.

2. the letter/number combo of B and 1.  Company B1, later Superior Sound; first floor of Russell B

3. the general attitude of being assholes.  walking through the drive thru at Wendy's; pretty much every weekend at UD

4. volleyball.  "executive fitness"; how I met AJ, basically

5. procrastination!  the marketing campaign; just about every weekend at UD

6. college campuses Lycoming ("Get anywhere on campus in under a mintue!"); University of Delaware ("South Campus to North Campus is an impossible walk!") and dining halls Lycoming and Delaware both have soft ice cream machines, but the one in Williamsport is always Chocolate, Vanilla, or Swirl, while Newark's incorporated new and exciting flavors every week including raspberry and cookies and cream and dorm rooms. deathly hot and drab at Lycoming; home at UD

And now, for the people similarities:

Janel: Kind and caring, and sort of resembling Katey Bernero, she's the one I'm still closest with.  She's sweet and silly and has a time anxiety...just like another dark haired, stick skinny sidekick I know.  That's right...Robin--er, Anna Fischman.

Andrea: Living just two doors down, we seemed to have the most in common.  We laughed, worked, and confided in each other in a way only two people of the same weird mind can.  Later she evolved into my wonderful roomie Chelsea Swilling.

Steve ("Penis"): I actually couldn't remember his name until I looked it up today.  I guess he's kind of the precursor to Matt, since he was the first guy to ever show a glimmer of interest in me.  Steve was a bit more of an asshole than Matt is, if you can imagine that.

Joe: The biggest jerk of us all, a womanizer, a big guy, knows how to sell electronics...in a word, Dave Carle.

Erin: Erin actually reminds me of Erin Tustin, but she was a close friend that week and even after, so I thought I'd mention her.

Ashleeee!: Maybe a little more typical teen than her UD counterpart, Ashlee and I had the same kinds of things in common as Jackie and I.  They're both hysterically funny, and good at juggling a lot of activities.

Harry: The moody kid who wandered off a lot and didn't pull his end of the deal.  He was really nice though, and got a lot of flak from us, which is why he reminds me of Chip.

Eric: From the fjords, this Norway native was usually reserved and stony, but every so often busted out a hunk of comic gold. Hence, AJ.

This was going to go on for a long while, but (luckily for you) I'm tired so I'm going to stop now.

mind blowing
