so my birthday weekend we went to Playa Grande which is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean with polished tawny sand and aquamarine water and there is practically no one there. It takes about 6 hours to get there from Santiago and three kinds of transportation each increasingly uncomfortable. This weekend was my first motoconcho ride *forbidden bah* and I was definitely praying the entire time holding onto nothing on a moped with 3 people. It was also my first 3 times hitchhiking (catching una vola). I realized I now feel safe in the back of a pickup on the highway. One of the other modes of transportation is a guagua (15 passenger van with 30ish people in it and the cobrador and whoever else doesn't fit hanging out the door). We unfortunately unintentionally caused a guagua fight. It was pretty nasty and we will probably never be picked up by a guagua in that area again. The summary of the fight was an argument over prices, one guagua driver being a machisto dick and another guagua jumping the line and picking us up. We stayed in a hotel room for 4 dollars apiece in rio san juan. On sunday we had lunch brought to us (including the table and chairs) on the beach of fresh fried fish, arroz morro, tostones and ensalada for six dollars. ridiculous.
This is the first week on exams, both oral. should be fine.
I miss my dear ruhi one group! *hugs*
