i thought this was pretty freaking hilarious, so i decided to share:
To All Washington College Students:
The end of the academic year, warm weather and year-end celebrations
combined sometimes see students engaging in risky behaviors and heavy
alcohol consumption. We ask all students at this time to please use good
judgment and to end your semester in a safe and healthy way.
May Day is right around the corner and for the past several decades,
Washington College students have made May Day the occasion for any number
of special celebrations, not all of which are completely legal or wise.
While I encourage all students to enjoy themselves this coming May 1st, I
also ask you to use common sense. Keep in mind that Washington College is
not exempt from Maryland law which includes statutes against exposing
yourself in public. Public indecency, or exposing one's body in such a
manner that may be seen by someone who could be offended, is also a
violation of the new policy regarding sexually inappropriate behavior.
Please remember that members of the Chestertown community are often near or
on the campus every day of the week and that indecent activity or behaviors
can be witnessed by families, children and visitors to our campus.
What began as an enjoyable and isolated activity on our campus has evolved
into an event that sometimes attracts outsiders and has the potential to
cause embarrassment and harm to the participants. Not only have serious
injury, alcohol poisonings, and sexual assaults occurred in the not too
distant past, but those who take part may be subject to highly undesirable
publicity. I need not remind you that hand-held computing devices that
take photographs and transmit them instantly to others or to the Internet
are now common on the campus. No one would welcome such an outcome to an
event which should be an occasion to relax and let off stress toward the
end of a long semester. Please think about the risks, especially to your
own personal integrity, of inappropriate behavior, and use your good
judgment in celebrating May Day this year.
Jerry Roderick, Director of Public Safety
i doubt seriously that jerry roderick would even remember what he meant by personal integrity if he were to spend a weekend in somerset.
