What is there to do with no electricity? You hang out at a friend's place that has electricity. Currently, my girlfriend's. Also you do a lot of reading. I've been reading For Whom the Bell Tolls by Hemingway. A good book, but sad. I finished it just a few moments ago. I suppose it's fitting that war stories are sad.
Look at me. Writing un-stylistic, terse sentences. Perhaps I've been reading too much Hemingway lately. I will try to cut that out.
Moving on...
The two nights I spent in Atlanta for Ekklessia held much fun and many adventures. I visited the Coca-Cola Museum (a waste of seven dollars) and the Georgia Tech campus and its Fiji House. It must be so nice to have a real house. Their main common room held a brand-new pool table, a foosball table, a ping-pong table, a poker table, very nice wrap-around couches, and a big-screen TV. Man. It must be so nice to have a real house.
After Ekklessia (which I will post a few pictures of later, perhaps) I went to Perry, GA for my cousin David's wedding. The rehearsal dinner was nice, and the ceremony itself was beautiful. The reception afterwards went a bit too long. People didn't leave because they were waiting for the Bride and Groom to leave, who were waiting until 10 to leave just because they had decided that 10 would be the time they would leave. They could have easily left at 9:15 and everyone would have agreed that it was a good time for them to go. But all the same, it was nice to see some family and support my cousin at such an important occassion in his life.
And now... the power is out at the house. It teased us when it came on for about 10ish hours, then just left again. But I'm heading back now to visit with my brothers, and maybe get lunch. Who knows. My first little brother Carl is back in town and moving in to the house, and I'm looking forward to hanging out with him again.
This weekend is the brotherhood retreat, and then the semester starts once more. I've a lot on my plate this next year, and even more on my mind. Who knows where I'll be at the end of it all.
I apoligize to those who have trudged through this post. The next one will be more interesting.
