so i posted this as a review on amazon, don't know if it's going to get processed but i'll post it here to!
"fair warning, i'm a bit upset with this tv right now.
i bought this on black friday from amazon (11/24/11) and have had nothing but good, meh... okay, things to say about it.
first the good:
it has plenty of ports to connect anything i would want to.
the audio out works great with my speakers.
great detail for gaming.
here's the bad:
today (2/3/12) my tv has stopped working. i called LG and they are sending out a third party service team to help with fixing it (still under warrenty, thank jeebs). i tried to do a hard reset with tech's to no avail. however this happens 3 days after the return policy for amazon expired. i suppose i am fortunate to have it work this long, since after reading a handful of reviews (enough to send up a red flag) that people have had this problem happen much sooner in the TVs life. the little red light is mocking me as i type this. the electronics have a faint lifeless hum, but there is no display, and more importantly no green "everything is fine" light. the repair shop had also let me know that the part needed is on backorder (10 days). needless to say LG knows there are issues with this specific TV model and might want to pull it off the market.
another peeve of mine is that there is no option to go to closed captioning on mute. but this was just a minor annoyance.
also, the sd slot on the side only plays what, jpegs? that could have been made more useful by at least allowing firmware updates through it.
i thought maybe this was karma for personal endeavors gone awry, but turns out it's just a bad TV. sorry ex-girlfriends!
to sum it up:
order at your own risk, seems to be a luck of the draw/bad circuit boards.
if it fails it's not because you're a bad person, it's because it was made with shoddy parts.
stay classy."
