My last "On Voting" post before actually voting.

Tomorrow we get to vote in a primary that actually counts. [Schedule: Wake up. Slack off. Walk two blocks. Avoid people handing out fliers. Point out to the poll worker that I am the Person With My Name that lives here and not wherever the other one lives. Vote. Walk home. Slack off. Walk half a block. Catch the bus. Ride for 1:20. Go to work. Come home angry. Day off.] This is new for us. I guess we can thank Florida and Michigan for that whole "we will move our primary up and then our delegates will be disregarded" thing. I don't know. Either way, by the time I get home the results should be in and then I can stop paying attention again for a few months.

So, tonight on The Daily Show Jon was talking about the candidates' pandering to my state by pretending to be into things that they are not but that we are assumed to be. You know, sports. Now, we know I like sports. (Don't worry, this is not going to turn into a sports post!) Well, not all of them, just a select few... and by that I mean two: NASCAR racing and college basketball. (I am pretty sure that in the Venn diagram that shows the overlap of those two fanbases, the people who occupy the middle ground are as follows: me and my brother.)

Hillary was in Mooresville at the NASCAR museum surrounded my rednecks. This is acceptable, as both racing and rednecks are good for entertainment. Obama? He was down in the Triangele, in a gym, playing basketball with some college students. College students are not as much "entertaining" as "annoying", but given the choice between the two, I'd choose basketball. (Even though the last thing that made me really happy was the ending of Saturday's race, but that is neither here nor there.) So, if I was totally shallow and was looking for a random thing to base my decision on, I'd be like "Go Obama! I don't really understand what your stance is on anything, I am not impressed by the ~*phenomenon*~ and when it comes down to it, I am just waiting for the real election so I can vote for who I want to vote for... but you were playing basketball, and that is alright with me!" But this, my friends, is unacceptable.

And also illegal. (I'm not just saying that, it is actually against NCAA rules.) Did I just see Obama playing basketball with the Tarholes? Really, did I just see that?! Fail.
