Another (Minor) Blow to the Defense of Marriage Act

Feb 05, 2009 11:17

Sadly, it's not a precedent yet (it was an arbitration and not a court case), but yet another Federal judge has ruled that part of the Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits the Federal government from recognizing same-sex marriage, is illegal. Married Federal employees cannot be denied spousal benefits for same-sex spouses according to the new ruling.

Brick by brick, stone by stone, we're tearing down the wall. My appreciation to the attorney who brought the case.
