stupid windows.
This is something I hate. Very much.
Lets say you have a laptop. Laptops have built in speakers and no physical volume control (for the most part)
Install Win XP on a domain, and you get an ear piercing, silence splitting loud welcome sound.
Nothing you can do about it.
Sucks when you are in an environment where.. oh ya know.. people around you are tyring to get work done?
But wait..... IT GETS WORSE.
Let's say you can't hook the machine up to a network during install, because windows is SO CRAPPY that it actually gets infected by worms/viruses BEFORE THE INSTALL EVEN FINISHES - meaning, before I get a chance to even install anti-virus, the latest service pack, etc.
So - that means, no network, I can't join the domain. if you don't join a domain during install, windows starts this registration thing, and it plays LOUD music throughout. YOU CAN'T SHUT IT UP, and you HAVE to complete the whole thing.
Screw that, I'm glad I only have about 10% windows machines here.
