Yippee Ki-Yay, Mister Falcon

All the hype over the UFC fight and what happens, Junior dos Santos knocks out Cain Velasquez in so little time that I still got to see John McClane light the streaming gas and spout his famous catchphrase (of course, it was with the infamous "Mister Falcon" voice-over, maybe the worst voice-over in history).

Looks like Jimmie Johnson is not going to get yet another Cup. Carl or Tony, either one winning, would be fine with me. I kind of root for Smoke when Jeff Gordon is not in contention most races anyhow. I do want Jeff to take the #24 to victory today just to see if the slack-jawed yahoos that showered him with trash here in the past will treat him right this time. Of course, the weather, here in the dry ass desert, is rainy. I think that NASCAR races attract rain. Has to be.

I finally nailed the 13-bean mix in the crockpot. After trying to get fancy before, this time I kept it simple and soaked two cups of beans overnight. Then with fresh water and a bit of chicken stock I only added a bit of Mrs. Dash and a couple teaspoons of Pickapeppa sauce. I let them cook for 3 hours on high in the crock, then turned it to low and let them simmer away for a few more hours and they were perfect.

Survivor is winding down quite well. Ozzy keeps showing what a prima donna he is, Coach is surprisingly palatable and smart about his game this season, and the stronger tribe will soon need to start eating their own. I love this stuff.

Stuck on the diet. Have not put the weight back on, but am not losing anymore. I have also still not found a truly enjoyable diet soda. I found the Coke Zero had just a bit more aftertaste than I thought it would and the Diet Mountain Dew was no better. Oh well, I guess I just need to do the unthinkable, drink more water.
