QCFPUNCH and SSGA present "SUMMERSLAM" at the University of Manitoba August 19th-20th in the Armes building lecture theatres 200 & 201.
Games would be run in pools on Saturday, and qualifiers from each pool would play in finals on Sunday. During major pools/finals, both rooms would be used for tournament games so as to allow for more time/games/etc. There would probably be intermissions for casual play/free side tourneys.
Sharpen your skills because there will be cash prizes for the winners!
Summerslam signups are now open!
You can sign up for any of our major tournaments via e-mail (matt@qcfpunch.com) or by PM'ing me (if for some reason you don't want to e-mail me). Each tournament comes with an entry fee of $5, all of which will go towards cash prizes (Top 3 will be guaranteed prizes; depending on what the turnout is like, we may also expand the number of people getting prizes). You can enter as many of these tournaments as you wish. Participants will get a minimum of four games against different opponents as part of pools, and the top participants (number TBA) will qualify for finals on Sunday.
Sign up as early as you can; there will be a 40-person cap on each tournament, and we are operating on a first-come, first-serve basis. The earlier you sign up, the better we can plan for each tournament and the more organized/efficient pools will be. You must send your email/PM before 12:01 am on Friday, August 18th or we cannot guarantee that you will be able to register for the tournament. I'm sure that I will talk to many of you about your intent to participate anyways, but I have a terrible memory and having a hard copy of your signup will help offset that a bit; it also allows me to stay in contact with you regarding schedules/potential changes/etc.
With all that aside...
What To Bring To Summerslam:
- Your entry fees ($5/tournament)
- Your own controller(s) (recommended, if you're picky about that)
- Any equipment you have committed to bringing
- Food and drink, or money for food and drink.
- A sense of hygiene and manners. ;)
Include the following info in your signup message:
- Real Name (First and last, in case we have multiple people named John/Tyler/James/etc)
- What game(s) you will be competing in
- If you're coming with friends and you want to be placed in a seperate pool from them, mention it and we will see what we can do.
- Screenname/Whatever alias or moniker you want to appear on the site (this is optional)
- If you would rather I contact you by some other means (MSN/Cell/etc) than e-mail, include it.
- If you would like to be part of the awesome group of people organizing Summerslam by bringing equipment/games/etc for us to use, or you'd like to volunteer to help oversee the proceedings, or something else, let me know. There will be perks for those involved.
