HUGE update about ME =)

Wow, it's been a LONG time since I've posted. So here goes in "brief"--if that's possible--about all the crazy things that have happened since All-State.

April (Easter Weekend)--participated in Bible Bowl competition in Nashville, TN, at the exclusive Opryland Hotel. Though my team was a finalist, we didn't place which was alright. Crazy enough, I met up with a guy-camp-friend and found out he was suspended from college because he assisted in a streaking! Ha ha ha. The most unlikely person that I know and it would be him. Ha ha ha ha! Anyhow... our puppet teams did great with two 1sts and one 2nd place.

April 26--Jr/Sr Banquet. A more conservative tradition of prom. Basically, the juniors work really hard to raise funds to honor the seniors with a REALLY nice banquet. Juniors get to come since they raise the money and seniors come to be honored. The theme was "Enchanted Garden" and it was a wonderful evening! =D I don't know when I've had so much fun. Of course, there was an after-party and I went. Somehow, I had the energy to get up the next morning for church even though I stayed out past 4am. Crazy, I know.

May 11--Mother's Day as well as Jill's BIG(if I could underline, italicize, and bold this word, I would) Violin Concert. Usually I have two concerts with the rest of my teacher's studio students. I am currently 1 of 17 students she has, though about 12 perform in the recitals. This spring term I have been working on a piece from the movies, "A scent of a woman" and "True Lies". Can you guess the song? That's right! It's Por Una Cabeza by Carlos Gardel...ha ha.. I didn't expect anyone to know that since most of my friends are *AHEM* uncultured musically. Anyhow, my teacher is a member of the State Orchestra and got two of her friends to play the viola and cello parts while she played the Violin II part. I, being the star that I am ;) =P played the Violin I, kind of a highlighted solo part, in the ensemble. Fortunately and contrary to usual performances, I had a large number of the audience supporting me, since most were family, but hey, i'll take what I can get since *ahem* as said previously, most of my friends don't give jack about my musical career (If you haven't noticed yet, this is a touchy issue for me). So after my near-flawless performance, I take the courteous bow and the audience erupts in applause! For the first time in my career, I was given the chance to bow twice! TWICE! I probably should have 2 years ago when I played the famous Meditation from Thais, but that was when I didn't know as much as I do now of concert etiquette. Here I go rambling again... anyhow, the concert went really well.

May 24-June 2: Chorus Tour. After HS graduation on the 23, and much boo-hooing, a select group of 50 out of our 80+ choir went on tour. Our ultimate destination was the Grand Canyon near Flagstaff, AZ, though we did stop places going and coming back. The trip was wonderful and I got the privelege to see how beautiful America really is and face how my perceptions of AZ and NM are stereotypical, thus I was able to experience the REAL west. I could ramble about tour for ages, so if you REALLY want to know, you can IM me on AOL by the screen name of PrincessManonoko. I'm always up for talking so long as you aren't a pervert or off the wall weird. =) Fair enough?

And here I am now. Yes, I left out a GREAT deal because some of it you wouldn't understand the depth of meaning since most who read this journal do not know me so well. Though if I were not so lazy at times, I would write EVERYTHING that happened in April and May and bore my audience to tears. For a quick summary, I took AP tests, CLEP tests, Band Concerts, Choir performances, piano recitals, you name it and I did it. Ask my friend, Zach, he knows :)

Currently, I'm preparing to head for Japan for 6 weeks! Isn't that wild?! I can't wait. For FYI, I am half-Japanese so this trip is for scholastic purposes as well as exploring my roots. This is NOT a vacation. In any case, I am anxious, eager, nervous, and ready to go! I LOVE to travel. Including my Japan trip, I will have visited (in no particular order) the Netherlands, Italy, France, England, Austria, Czechaslovakia (it was at the time), Greece, Luxembourg, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Uganda East Africa (been there twice), and Canada. I like to travel if you can't tell and was very fortunate to go to Europe when I was in 2nd grade for a semester with my family. Yes, I have a wild and unique travel-loving family.

Anyhow, it's late and my bed is calling to me. Goodnight to all =)
