I LOVE this weather!

I really do. I even liked it when it snowed. I heard Edmonton's urban forester today on CBC and he was rejoicing. I share his sentiments.  The worst kind of weather I can imagine is 38 and dry, with the grass crunching under your feet. I hate that even more than -40 ( Read more... )

I don't fret about privacy as much as you do, at least insofar as the limited information I add to Facebook is concerned, so disregard this on that count.

Yet I am much happier with Facebook than I expected to be when I reluctantly joined. I still use Livejournal and am comfortable using both. Twitter might be a step too far, but so far no worries, just neglect.

Yeah. I guess when I was on, I was also unimpressed with how much unwanted content I had to put up with (ads in my feed, so and so added such and such application, etc) not to mention the inevitable... friend collectors from elementary school wanting to be on my f-list yet not responding to personal messages. I am considering reluctantly rejoining. Apparently now there's chat? Anyone using that?

Use Firefox 2 as your browser, install Adblock or Adblock Plus plugin, the Greasemonkey plugin plus a downloaded script that removes any small frame on FB that starts with the word Sponsored....and I see 0 ads. It's a bit of work to set everything up, but the end result is very nice, and there's 0 maintenance.

I'm using chat. It didn't work for me the first few days after it was released...but now it seems ok. It doesn't replace your Google Talk for ease of use - but it has a whole lot more potential contacts....and it's a lot better than sending asynchronous messages.

Thanks. Yes, I've noticed lots of greasemonkey scripts doing various things on FB.
Well who knows, maybe i'll rejoin.

I notice one or two ads each day, and they don't bug me much. (Many more might.) The chat is better than I thought at first glance, and I'm running into more people I actually care to chat with with each passing day. It's been live a short time, so I expect more and more people will use it as time goes on.
