Just thought I would comment on your wrong view of maternity. Women losing their jobs because of it is very unlikely. I can assure you it would be quite illegal for an employer to fire someone because of this. At the end of maternity women are welcome to go back to their jobs. That's the whole point of maternity leave. To give them the time off they need, and also they get paid during this time. After it is over service resumes as normal. But like the radio program said, more women are choosing reduced hours or not to go back at all. The people I know have chosen reduced hours.

You are right that an employer CAN’T say he is making someone redundant because they are pregnant but they can find other ways of insuring that a pregnant employee cannot come back to work or has to work reduced hours. Many women can’t afford child care as their wages don’t make it worth while to go back, others aren’t aware of their rights and simply accept what their boss says. While I understand that men are better at some things and women are better at others I think when it comes to child care both sexes are equally able.

Anyway I can’t argue with you about this because we will always disagree.

Haha it rocks Niz you have to listen to it although I wouldn’t pick up any of the presenters’ habits, I’m sure you’re station is far better. As Harry would say Talk Sport is “Comedy Value!”
