And I never knew until this post that Oprah spelled backwards is Harpo.

I knew Oprah's production company was Harpo, but never noticed the spelling thing.

I didn't know that you didn't know that! Well, ya learn something new every day!

As they used to say on G.I. Joe:
"Now I know!"
"And knowing is half the battle!" ;@ )

I'm pretty sure all of the health-related shows will be shifted over to the basic Discovery Channel when Oprah's new NOW network debuts in 2009.

Personally, I think they'd be smarter to put Oprah's new programming on the Discovery Military Channel.

Jill, the more I learn about you the more I think if we lived closer we'd hang out a lot. I love DHC. Hobe teases me about it. I watch it and have envy for the doctors. I really should've applied myself more in undergrad and gone to med school instead. I know their everyday lives aren't like that, just like everyday isn't like law and order (although some weeks felt close). I am just facinated. I am a little sad they seem to have toned down the surgery visuals. Next you'll tell me you have a plan to survive a zombie attack.

Yay for more cool/nerdy things in common! You should hear my Mom and I yap back-and-forth about all things medical we've seen on t here. You'd think we were experts, yet, I'm sure we don't the half of it. But, it's fun to just talk all nerdy and doctor-like! I figure I was probably a doctor in a previous life or something...certainly NOT in this one! I was going to become a Veterinarian, but my math skills just weren't up to par. I think I missed my calling in life, though. ^_^

I think it's Oprah's personal mission to take over the world of TV. And I wish she hadn't given Rachel Ray a talk show. OY!!!!
(Sorry if you like Rachel Ray, but that woman makes my ears bleed)

Oh no, I don't care for Rachael Ray, either. Annoying!!! Oprah at least is tolerable, for now. Unless she takes over every last network, then I'm not so sure.

Actually Dr. G is being shifted to TLC. New season should start around October and apparently there might be a few specials coming too, says Dr. G's publisher (she's got a book coming out, How Not to Die, in October from Crown).

Excellent! I'm glad to hear that! I have noticed TLC is slowly migrating shows over there, so I hope they do more!
