This is a cool little link I'm posting today; this guy, yes, his name is Skye, is a good friend of my cousin Brian (and in fact was in his wedding a couple years ago), and he's made it his Master's Thesis project to make a cross-country trek on foot/bike/etc. to help promote the need for better P.E. and exercise habits for kids across America. And so that is exactly what he's doing for the next year or so, all while keeping a blog of his trek and making speeches at schools nationwide.
Skye the P.E. Guy's Project Website. Eat your heart out, Bill Nye the Science Guy! ^_^
He officially started just a few days ago by crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, and he's planning to call up Brian occasionally to let him know what's up and everything. Skye is even going to have Oprah appear with him at some point, which is really cool! Definitely a cool and note-worthy way of getting the word out about the importance of fitness in people's lives, especially in this day and age. He's also trying to drum up support from "REAL" teachers who want to focus their efforts and take the pledge by working to improve their students fitness education at school. So hey, if you know any teachers out there (particularly P.E. instructors, but really anyone from the world of education), let them know about this as well!
Anyway, what a novel little project. I certainly hope it goes well, and hey, if you're in an area he'll be appearing, why not stop and say hello to Skye and his crew? ^_^
And in case he stumbles upon this entry, hello and good luck to you, Skye! I'm Brian's equally-nerdy cousin, Jill, and he's pretty darn proud of your efforts! Keep up the good work!
