{Fic} Behind My Smile.. Chapter 3/3
Summary: Freya is a good friend of Liam. She likes Liam ever since, but she doesn't have the courage to tell it to her friend. Liam, on the other hand, have feelings for Freya's cousin, Erika. He asked his Freya for help. He wants Freya to help him on courting Freya's cousin. This breaks Freya's heart. But being Liam's childhood friend, she didn't refused instead she help him. How long will Freya keep her feelings? How will she handle the pain she bears? What's gonna happen between Liam and Freya?

Freya died in an accident. Her parents couldn’t take the truth about their daughter’s death. The drunk driver was been jailed after admitting that he pass the red signal. Liam and Erika were there to have sympathy on Freya’s parents.
While Liam with the others was in the living room, Erika went to his cousin’s bed room. She gazed and search for things that might be a remembrance of Freya. She opens the drawer beside the bed of Freya and she saw Freya’s diary.
She read each notes and amazed on what she had read. She went to Liam, who is sitting in the balcony in the guest room and handed it over to him.
Liam read the diary of Freya, while he was reading it he remembered the time when they were child, lots of fun playing together. Liam turned to the next page and he read the passage:
Dear Diary, Sept/20/91
I was about to tell Liam that I like him but suddenly it was been interrupt. He said to me that he likes Erika and he asked me to help him on courting my cousin. And I said yes, thanks for my stupidity. Now that it is clear for me that I’m just a friend for him. I think that it is no longer needed for him to know about my feelings. I will just help him to get Erika’s heart, even though it will make my heart hurt.
I think I need to make a mask for me to hide my feelings. And I will just bury my love for him and let is disappear forever.
Liam was shocked about it. He didn’t know that Freya liked him and that she is going to confess to him at that night. He continue on reading until he reached the page where Freya’s last note in her diary. Liam looked at the date of the page and he was astonished about it because that date was the date when Freya died. It seems that Freya wrote in her diary first before the accident happened. This was the passage:
Dear Diary, Dec/01/91
I was keeping this feeling for a long time. I thought that it will going to be easy for me to forget my love for him but I was wrong. The more I hide the more pain I gain. So I decided to tell it to him right now. And if that happens I could do things freely without worrying if I’m going to be hurt or not. I wish he will treat me the way he always treated me before after I confess my love for him.
Liam was so sad for Freya. Tears are starting to fall from his eyes. He feels that he is so stupid. And he said to himself that, how could he be so stupid on not knowing that Freya liked him.
When Liam was going to close the diary, a locket fell from the diary. Liam took it and opened it. He saw a picture of him and Freya, smiling. Liam starts to cry again and the memories are coming back again.

After a month, Liam became alone. He and Erika broke up after Freya’s burial. Erika migrated to America and work their as a model. She and Liam became friends and sometimes Erika calls Liam, just to check each others lives and then they always end up talking about Freya when she was still alive. Liam thought that the one he loved is Freya not her cousin. If he just realize it earlier the death of Freya wouldn’t happened. He always visits Freya’s tomb and stay there just to be with Freya. He always brings flowers for her grave.
Liam was wearing Freya’s locket and he never removed it for it was the thing that keep Liam remember Freya as his best friend and once as a lover.

~ok... i'm so sorry if you didn't like the ending... I didn't mean to kill the protagonist of the story.. it's just that.. I think that it's more original if it didn't end in what other expected it would be.. (happy ending).. so sorry..
