Live From Vancouver 3.0

Feb 22, 2010 22:38

Sooo, I was having such a good time I decided to stay a bit longer in Vancouver - by myself.  Colin has a midterm on Tues so he went back yesterday, but I'm hanging out in my aunt's apartment.  As you can guess he's sulking like nobody's business - I told him to suck it up. ;)

The fact is that there's just so much to see and do here that I know I would regret not giving myself the opportunity to experience some of it.

I got to see the Olympic torch today which is really quite a beautiful construction.  When I saw Wayne Gretzky light it on tv during the Opening Ceremonies it doesn't really give you an indication of the size of it!  I think I've also been introduced to more different kinds of food than I've ever had at once.  I discovered the awesomeness that is churros at the hockey games and at a restaurant I got to try First Nation's themed sushi - the one I picked was teriyaki muskox maki.  I also ate roasted chestnuts for the first time which thankfully are nothing like water chestnuts.  I'm still not sure if I like them or not they taste quite rich to me.

I watched Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir win a gold medal in ice dancing this evening, the first time Canada has won gold in that event (it's usually won by the US or Russia).  Whoot!

traveling, olympics, awesomeness
