ETA: Fandom meme stolen from
th3newblack The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it.
DC. A MILLION TIMES DC. FUCK YOU TOO, DC.
The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets.
UHM. The first that comes to mind is Chrono Trigger. I've never been "in fandom", per se, as much as I love to play the game every couple of years and immerse myself in the music and be completely wowed all over again.
The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized she really was fucking crazy.
Kingdom Hearts. I just. I get hit hard for a long time and then it becomes almost unbearable. I couldn't touch KH1 to save my life at this point, and whenever playing KH2 sounds like a good idea I just think "Agrabah" or "Atlantica" and I am ready to trade that shit in for some Brain Age 2.
The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved she doesn't actually live in town.
.hack. .hack is an expensive, exhausting fandom. It always feels good at the time but afterward I'm left going "I did not just buy four video games, 6 anime DVDs and three manga for a story I didn't even understand."
The steady.
I WANT TO SAY MEET THE ROBINSONS but I think it's still early for that. It's only been seven months? My devotion hasn't flagged in those seven months though, which is a real rarity for me. But failing that, FF9. I have never found FF9 tedious or boring or unnattractive.
The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with.
Avatar. Avatar is some hot shit. I'm not so sure about the fandom though. It's so big and popular. Also I don't have cable so i will not be able to join in with the season 3 hype.
The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't.
Everything FF except 9. I like the games and I look forward to them, but in the end, I could live without them if I had to. Or if I had to chose between, say, "a new FF game every few years" or "a new amazing but vastly underappreciated RPG or adventure game that will have a non-existant fandom every few years (See: Psychonauts, Baten Kaitos, Okage)" I'd go for the latter. Except FF9. Of course.
The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool chick except it's never really gone anywhere.
The Gay Lawyer Game. I'll get a game, play it obsessively for however long it takes to play it, laugh, and be done. The idea of fangirling it just doesn't stick.
The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at her and thinking, "her? how the hell did she land all these cool guys?"
Harry Potter. I'm more a SBP fan than a Harry Potter fan. On the whole I just do not get it.
The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom he keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for him except you just know it's going to end badly.
Final Fantasy Everything. Final Fantasy Everything always ends badly.
The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and who you measure all other potential partners against.
Psychonauts, maybe? Psychonauts is not just a game, it's THE game. It's what games SHOULD be. Fuck graphics. If a game is original and really, REALLY funny no one's going to give a shit if it lags or glitches.
Have I mentioned that time travelers are made of win? They are. Awesome cover. Is #28 out yet? D: I've been trying to catch up on my comics but I haven't seen that one around. The end of #27 made me go "OH SNAP." NEED NOW, PLZ.
