Still whining about lack of stuff to do post .hack.
I did Lord of the Abyss and Doppelganger last night. The FAQs led me to believe that not only was Doppelanger a challange, but that he was very difficult and required a lot of elaborate cheap tricks with lucky animals, smoke screens, beast awakenings and preemptive steambike attacks. My characters weren't even maxed (Haseo:50, Kuhn:49, Silabus:47), I didn't use Sliepnir, I used ONE demon awakening, and I didn't even preempt the fight, and I still took him down in a few painless minutes. I had more trouble with Lord of the Abyss, but that may have been because I took Gaspard along. He kept dying. :/
Needless to say, doppelganger still scared the shit out of, me because I really wasn't expecting him to show up. At first I thought it was the kind of stupid internet thing that they made it out to be in the game- someone gets wind of something and turns it into a big elaborate hoax. "lol, wait in a field for like, ten minutes and dont do anything, and an evil version of Haseo will show up and kill you" (Me: "Haseo IS an evil version of Haseo. D:") But I tried it, I sat in a dark feild for about seven minutes, with no music, and just BG crickets chirping. All the lights in the house off. I finally go wandering off to look for him and the screen goes all hazy and red and the music goes creepy and a message pops up to the affect of "This is Doppelganger, symbol of death that walks the feilds" or something. Its like doing the Bloody Mary thing in the mirror and having it work. ^_^;;
Regardless, one try, I got him.
I only need a few people left for the flyer quest, a few stuff to top off my last ryu book, a few mecha grunty rescues and (more than) a few PKers to crush.
I think I'm going to spend the morning at Borders catching up on .hack manga.
