+ Marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples are being issued in the District of Columbia for the first time today. I feel all kinds of happy for those who can finally take that step together, and I love my city for making it possible for them.

I really appreciate the fact that Sudafed clears up the (usual winter) sinus congestion that's been plaguing me for the last week. However, I find it really annoying that it also seems to prevent me from sleeping for more than three or four hours a night. And I'm not taking it anywhere NEAR my bedtime. Shingles suck. Just so y'all know. Wearing work appropriate clothes today has been downgraded to 'uncomfortable' from 'screamingly painful' earlier in the week, but I'm still not healed.( Behind the cut: Wills, Steroids, and House News )

About an hour ago, I took my second dose of meds for the day and thought I'd go to bed early, since I didn't sleep well last night or the night before...

... and shortly thereafter found myself in more pain than I've been in all day.

So. Not. Fair.

I begin to suspect that Naproxen is one of those painkillers that has no actual effect on me.

That rash I had last week? Is shingles. I called my doctor on Friday and made an appointment for this morning, because I'd begun to suspect that it was more than just an allergic reaction to something. My doctor took one look and said, "Yup. Shingles." ( Details of treatment and such: )
