I loathe jury duty. I loathe it with a passion heretofore reserved for people who can't parallel their huge SUVs on city streets and those who go straight from right turn only lanes. (Anyone who's ever been in a car with me knows that this is not a trivial level of loathing.)

Fortunately, I did not actually get chosen for a jury-- though I had to sit through two different selection processes in order to find out that I didn't get selected.

I understand that trial by jury is a cornerstone of our judicial system, and if I believed it actually worked as designed, I probably wouldn't mind so much, but I think the system is so badly broken at this point that I can't get past feeling like the whole exercise is a waste.
