D'oh!
Note to self: Keeping an Outlook Calendar for meetings at work does not absolve you of the responsibility to remember things. It's all well and good to say, "If it's not on my calendar, it doesn't exist," but only if your calendar is accurate.
(I scheduled a conflict for myself because a standing appointment had fallen off my calendar and I didn't think it through when I was sending out the conflicting meeting request. I've managed to resolve it, but doing so required me to go to our new Branch Head and say, "I did something stupid, can I be late to our standing meeting in order to take care of this other thing?")
