Clark crammed his fat foreign feet into the tiny slippers and waddled down the hall, fuming

I shouldn't be grinning from ear to ear about Clark's awkwardness, both physical and culturally, but as with most things he does it so adorably XD That, and it put me in mind of 1) Rai's similarly themed illustration (yeee) and 2) the odd occasions I went through in Japan that my family hadn't prepped me for, like.. incomprehensible foodstuffs in Kyoto breakfasts. [Clark: *pokepoke* Me: I hear ya.] Besides which, his finite patience is amusing. *giggles* "Fat."

Awww, Bruce's phone convo with Dick T_T Really, nothing to drive the feeling of being a total heel (even though he couldn't help it, really) on home like a watchful Superman.

As always, Bruce forced himself not to hesitate, not to consider the hideous implications of what he was about to say. "I love you too, kiddo."

GUH. Bibble T_T

"It's only money. Call your family. Wish them a Happy New Year."

I'm loving awkward Clark much more than is healthy. He's so much fun to write!

Rai's pictures have really been the driving force behind this series...I've wanted to much to put some of her images into words, somehow. I just pray I'm not too far off on Japanese culture!

And so much LOL about the elegant meals, yes. The "What is this?" "It's delicious." exchange was a real one we had with a co-worker once.

okay, maybe I'm jumping the gun, this just being the second chapter of a NOVEL, but I like being snide about Bruce's DENIAL.)Oh, Bruce is definitely not motivated by ( ... )

That was really beautiful... you have a wonderful way of using small details and seemingly random remarks to set up a mood and theme. I can't explain it any better... but this scene made me feel sad and comforted and peaceful all at once. Loved the ending, the insights into Bruce and his past, his gradual thaw towards Clark. Just loved this very much, so thank you!

Aw, thank you! That means a lot because that's really kind of what I try to do. Sometimes I don't even know where the details and remarks are going! So it's always a huge relief to hear that they gel, somehow.

The details pull in lots of different directions, but I'm glad they kind of...come together more or less harmoniously. And thank you so much for the kind feedback, it means a lot!

I still have trouble comprehending how adorable your Clark is. He's so adorable, it should be illegal or something.

... but discovered that what Bruce wore with grace merely made him look like a very...big...foreign guy.

alksdjf That is because you ARE a really big foreign guy, Clark!

Police: That's it, we're taking you in.
Jen: Under what charges?
Police: Making Clark Kent far too adorable.

LOL, in my experience foreigners in Japan either 1. Love standing out (I had a friend would go about yelling "Fear gaijinzilla! Cower before me!" @.@) or 2. Really hate it and wish they could disappear. Two guesses which group I think Clark is in. *grin*

Thanks for the comment! If making Clark adorable is wrong, I don't wanna be right...

Fear gaijinzilla! Cower before me!

That's hilarious. I wish I had the figurative balls to do that if I ever went to Japan.

I love this so much. It feels like being transported back into the best parts of anime fandom :)

Clark's trouble with the yukata resonates deeply within me ;P I have one, and I just looks silly wearing it, so I use it as wall decoration instead.

LOL, I hadn't even considered how much like anime fandom this might come across as! I've never read or written in such so it didn't cross my mind, but yeah, I can see that.

I've travelled with Japanese friends who always look amazingly elegant in even the most average yukata...but I feel like a whale wrapped in cloth, so that's definitely where Clark's frustration is drawn from! :)
