Hoshi finally shows up to slug it out with Brainiac. As it turns out (what a surprise!), Brainiac has an ace up his sleeve--the Jade Blade, a sword forged of Kryptonite. He proceeds to beat Kal-El quite badly. This is an image-heavy post (seven below the cut) because I couldn't come up with a good way to trim things without losing too much.

Sigh, that's one of those moments that I just can't fully appreciate because part of me always goes "Why did you jump in front of the blade, when you could have just pushed Brainiac and then he'd fall down and nobody would get stabbed?" I know that would destroy the pathos of it all, but...it annoys me. Especially coming from someone like Hana.

This has renewed your vigor for writing Fuji, yeeeeeees? *pokepoke*

Hah! Okay, that's officially how I'll change the ending if I ever write the alternate take on this story--she just knocks the sword out of his hand with a massive kick and sends it flying and Kal goes to town. :) So much more sensible...

I'm almost done the first chapter of Fall, now that you mention it! *grins* If I can get Bruce to behave and let me use his POV I should have it up either this weekend or next week...

In my own little world Hana came back to life because of the Superboy-Prime time punch and the Mister Mind munch! Then she looked for Hoshi and jumped him and had wild sex..

Then they lived happily ever after and had superbat babies *nods*

Or she just never jumped in front of that stupid blade...*sniff*

I like your version--any of them!--much better! I definitely have to save her someday and put them up against...Joker or Two-Face or someone who'd be fun to see in ancient Japan. :)

It's my pleasure. Someday I hope to "fix" this ending and get further enjoyment out of it all! I've never written a real, full AU/Elseworld before...

I suppose the tragic way fit this world, but I think they could have let Hana survive and still brought about the final scenes.

I did find it interesting that Hana said she'd been prepared for death ever since her family had died. I'm sure that 'our' Bruce might have wished for death in his past. Perhaps the people around him have saved him from those feelings.

Urgh, still such a sad ending! :(

Yeah, it's true--less distinctly tragic but it still could have been sombre at the end. I mean, Flash and Hawkman are still dead, after all...but certainly the story was mainly about Hana and Hoshi. *sighs* Anyway, it's at least something someone could build on sometime. :)
