mcr_fridayfive 1. Gerard is known to write words and phrases on his arms and neck. Which of these words or phrases is your favourite?
i love when he writes 'careful'. i know it could mean anything, but i like to think he means it as a message to everyone in the crowd to be careful and not get hurt. i've had some pretty fucking nasty incidents at gigs. there's been a few times i've fallen down in a mosh pit and if people hadn't picked me up, i'd have seriously gotten hurt. i love when bands tell people to be careful, because seriously, some people hang on every word they say. when i saw the used, and bert decided he wanted a wall of death, where the crowd splits down the middle, and runs into each other, he said he wanted to see blood on the floor. i was like dude, seriously? there's always some asshole who takes what they say literally. but when they actually say something like 'be good to each other out there', that makes all the difference. a band always goes up in my estimation when they do that, and the fact he writes it on his body says a lot.
2. Which of Franks many tattoos is your favourite and why?
i think all of his tattoos are beautiful, actually. his sleeves are brilliant, the colour is really vivid. but actually, i'd probably say the scorpion on his neck. personally, i wouldn't get a scorpion or anything like that, because it's gross, and i like my tattoos to be something i like to look at. but the reason is the position. on life on the murder scene, he was talking about why he got it, and it was because he had such faith in the band and the music they were making, he knew this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. he didn't want a boring 9 to 5 job, and with a tattoo that high up on his neck, he wouldn't get one. i thought that took some balls, and when i see it makes me think of how committed he is to music, and i think that's an amazing thing.
3. Has MCR inspired you to do or try something you normally wouldn't?
oh my god this is so lame, but okay. when i saw them last summer, gerard gave this little speech about how everyone should try and do something selfless every day, whether it be buying a homeless guy a sandwich or doing volunteer work or something. and i thought that was great that he did that, i'm sure a lot of people scoffed and thought he was being dumb but i liked it. so i went to see about giving blood, but then i remembered my fear of needles, so i gave a homeless guy £5. it doesn't sound like a lot, but that would buy him lunch and a cup of coffee easily. it actually put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.
4. If you got to plan a day out with MCR what would you do first?
oh man, good question. i'd probably take them all to starbucks.
5. Has obsession ever got the better of you and made you do or say something stupid?
well, waiting around in the o2 arena for 7 hours before the gig was pretty stupid. i got drunk because it was so cold, and vodka warms me up, and walked into the men's toilets because the line for the women's was a mile long. that was pretty stupid. it's always a good anecdote, though.
