Viva La Chica!
After so many weeks of waiting we finally had the appointment (August 18th 10:00am) we had been waiting for.....the gender reveal! To be completely cliche but honest we really just wanted a healthy baby in every way. However, I really felt from the beginning we were having a girl. I even did the old time ring on a string after passing an episode of Ellen (I never watch) and her saying she did it for Jessica Alba and it was right about her little girl. Okay I know it is a little nutty but I believe in the unseen forces we cannot explain. When I did it the string started slowly and then whipped around ferociously in a circle (indicating a girl).
The Ultrasound Tech was a lady we had before for our first one. She was very through. We were treated to the most amazing adventure. We were able to see all four chambers of her heart beating, her brain, liver, kidneys, lungs and watch her move around inside. She was a bit shy and when they took her picture we could not get a clear picture of her face due to her little fists covering it up. I guess she knows mommy likes surprises.
I recall there was a moment when she was looking at her heart and I took a breath in amazement and she jumped inside me and the shot was lost. She was the most fantastic image I have ever seen in my life. To see her tiny bones and organs was so incredible. She was a "real girl" so much different from when we last saw her at 8 weeks. It still stuns me to think I am carrying and creating a tiny human within my own body.
When she told us "It's a girl" I began to sob. It hit me how much I deep down wished it so. I believe she will be the final piece for me to come full circle with the childhood I did not have. I think raising my own little girl will help me to undo some of what was done in a symbolic way. Please do not mistake I would adore a baby boy and cherish them with all my heart. I just know the universe gives you what you need and I believe I needed a little girl first. VIVA LA CHICA!
