Today was, in one word, shitty.

I went to bed last night feeling a little scratchy in my throat, and I thought it was my allergies acting up from too much time with the dogs, so I took a Claritan and two sleeping pills and went to bed.

I woke up at 6, feeling like hell on a stick. My throat was blazing sore, my head was pounding, I was sweaty, my legs were achy. I took three tylenol and tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. Student Health didn't open until 8, so I laid in bed and watched three episodes of Saved By The Bell - Wedding in Vegas (probably one of the only good things about today). I was worried because Alexander has Strep throat, and I thought I may have caught that from him.

Student Health didn't have any appointments, but they said that they would try to fit me in with the Triage nurse. They told me that I'd been seen at 9:30, but if I got there early, they'd see me then. I grabbed a pear, got in the car and left for Penn. Traffic was hellish on Washington, but I managed to get to Penn fairly quickly. I parked on 40th street outside the bank, put an hour and a half worth of quarters in the meter, and left for Student Health. The office didn't seem too busy when I got there, but I sat there for 45 minutes, thinking of the time ticking away on the parking meter. I finally went up and asked the receptionist how long it would take for the nurse to see me, and she said "Oh, about a half an hour." Wonderful.

I told them I was going to go put more money in my meter, and that I would be back in probably fifteen minutes. I called my mom, because she was at work and wanted to go to the bank. I told her I was parked right near the bank, and if she wanted to walk over with me, I'd like the company. We got to the car, I put more money in the meter and went into the bank with my mom. We were in the bank for ten minutes, and when I walked out, I had a ticket on the car. The two traffic cops were still near the car, so my mom raised hell. I got the ticket because my brother's inspection stickers were past due. $100 ticket. We explained that this wasn't my car, that I'm house sitting for my brother until Monday, and asked if there was a way I could get out the ticket. He told me no, but if I got it inspected and mailed the receipt in with the ticket, they would probably tear it up.

I'm still feeling like hell at this point, so I walked back to Student Health. And sat. For another half hour until the nurse finally saw me. She did a throat culture, and then sent me to see a doctor. She told me it would take a little bit to get the test back, and if it's negative, then it's probably just a virus. She said she'd call me with the results, but to get the prescription filled in case it's the virus.

At this point, I'm exhausted. I got like, five hours of sleep the night before, and I'm still feeling really crappy. I went over to the hospital to get the prescription filled, and its a madhouse. I dropped off the prescription and they told me it would take at least an hour to fill. I had had enough at that point, I was tired, frustrated and sick. I left the prescription there and called my mom having one of those frustrated cries. She told me to go home, go back to sleep and that she would pick up the prescription for me, if I wanted to come to Springfield later, I could get it then. I walked back to the car, and drove back to Jims. Two blocks from his house, my dad calls me and told me that I needed to drive to Lansdowne to get the car inspected. I had enough time to walk the dogs and sit for five minutes before I had to leave for Lansdowne.

Once I got to the Auto Body place, I sat in the guys living room for a half an hour and watched Cops while he fiddled around with the car. He gave me a reciept, told me Jim's insurance card had expired and that that was illegal, put a new sticker on the car, and sent me on my way. I drove to my house in Springfield and crashed on the couch. My parents came home around five, and my mom gave me my medicine. The doctor had called, it is a virus, and told me to start the medicine. My parents left to go out to dinner, and I left to go back to Jim's.

Luckily, my night ended on a high note. I stopped by my sisters house to drop off books that Alexander had left at my mom's, and stayed for dinner. I love that kid more than I can say. He's nuts.
