"He'll try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever"

I spent Tuesday being very sick. Went to comedy night at the Klinic Wednesday after frantically trying to finish a paper, was pleased to see the roomie outfunny the sexist, homophobic jackasses who tend to spend time on that stage. I was still not feeling my best yesterday, and had to finish the paper and take an exam (which I'm sure I failed.) But I did get a package. And you know what? A package from your best friend can turn around a sucky day pretty damn fast. Thank you, Sarah! There's a semester's worth of tea here, I swear.

Oh, also? On I think Tuesday, there was a suicidal guy with a gun wandering around campus. On Wednesday they determined that he was only a threat to himself, so everything went on as usual, but I found myself relatively unphased by the whole thing, which . . . I don't know what that says about me. I actually forgot about it entirely for a couple of hours. Then today there was an armed robbery on the other side of campus, but I guess that's been sorted out already. Wow, Madison. Just -- wow.

More creative writing stories to crit this weekend. One involving child abuse which doesn't seem to have any actual plot, one with an opening that sounds suspiciously like a Disney movie (sun, trees, birds "singing a morning hymn" and "letting all the forest know the day has begun," that sort of thing. I may vomit) and one I haven't started yet because the first sentence uses the phrase "frost kissed leaves" and I can already see there are going to be Problems with adverb use and gratuitous angst. The title? "The Calloused Heart." Kill me now, please.

And now, a meme!
