FINALLY - a music post

Apr 30, 2006 17:40

Apparently no one has posted since April 16th - thats 14 whole days ago - and that was me. Bad people.

However, I forgive to easily - here are some very cool songs from the 1970's for your listening enjoyment.

[01] March of the Black Queen - Queen
I could have done the obvious and picked Bohemian Rhapsody, but this song is just as good. Maybe even better. Its beautiful, with a teeny bit of attitude, multilayered vocals and lots of mood-changing. Listen out for Roger Taylor too - he'll foe and he'll fie ;) *swooon*

[02] In the Lap of the Gods - Queen
This is another song that is just as good as Bo Rhap, yet isn't as well known. Its from their thrid album, Sheer Heart Attack. It does take a while to grow on you, and may I just say that Freddie's voice in the verse scares me a little, but it is amazing. This is the reprise at the end of the album, for your full listening pleasure. I actually prefer the revisited bit, but I'm wierd like that...

[03] Trilogy - Emerson, Lake and Palmer
ELP I thought were sixties, but actually formed in 1970 and are prog rock. This song goes on forever, but it beautiful so it doesn't really matter.

[04] Lucky Man - Emerson, Lake and Palmer
This is quite slowish, and a little trippy, which is I guess why I thought they were 60's. I suppose their original bands were 60's but this stuff is 70's.

[05] I Love To Boogie - T. Rex
From prog rock to sort of glam rock, this is a song that was used in Billy Elliot, and a Robinsons advert. Listen to it without dancing a little, even in your head, and you are clearly not human.

[06] Children of the Revolution - T. Rex
This one is less lively than I Love to Boogie, more rock. I think it might have been used in a advert for some sort of mobile phone, ages ago. Its good.

[07] Anarchy in the UK - The Sex Pistols
Proper punk, not like Greenday's semi-pop poop. Punk was amazingly short lived in the 70's, but boy did it scare people. This is one of the two well-known Sex Pistols songs, along with God Save The Queen, and is very good, if you can use good to describe punk... WARNING: may contain swear words!!!

[08] Holidays in the Sun - The Sex Pistols
About going to Berlin and crossing the Berlin wall or something - forget the words and just yell a bit xD

[09] Sylvia's Mother - Dr Hook & The Medicine Show
This is another pretty one, and one of those ones that I was terrified to discover that my parents knew. Its really sad.

[10] Forever Autumn - Justin Hayward
This is from the musical version of The War of the Worlds, which I really have to buy at some point. This song is beautiful (if anyone wants to buy me a thesaurus, it woul be much appreciated xD).
