Yesterday was another slow day at work and once again they offered to let people leave early.  This time they sent out the message three hours before the end of my shift so I jumped at the opportunity!  Although it was fun to leave early, I regret that I did not use the extra time more productively.  I went to Borders and a few other places but really did not get anything accomplished.  Actually, it was in the '80 degrees yesterday so it was almost too hot to be out especially since I have not bought any shorts that fit me.  :P  When I got home, I tried to get by with the windows open and the ceiling fan on but eventually had to give in to the temptation to start the air conditioning.

Today will be another day of summer temperatures and I am not sure how best to spend it.  I feel as though I should do something out of the ordinary but I am not sure what would most please me.  I could go to the beach but I presume that most everyone will be flocking there.  I may, instead, spend time at a shady nature park or maybe go to a museum that I have no frequented in a while.

I had wanted to start the more watching a bit of soccer from across the pond but today's match-ups are sort of bland and predictable.  There are no clashes of equal sides, it seems, and it is easy to predict that top table team A will crush lower table team B.  Barring a big upset, I can't imagine the games will be too interesting.  I suppose that it is better to turn of the television and get productive.

With the intention of building muscle, I purchased some ready-made fish and chicken entrees with a high content of protein to dine upon this past week.  I then cooked my own sides which made the portion-size much more satisfying than the healthy choice meals I often dined on during my weight loss diet.  I even tried, for the first time, instant mashed potatoes and was quite impressed with how they turned out.  I have no prior experience with cooking potatoes from a packet.  My mom always cooked using a bag of whole potatoes but this is something that I find does not keep long enough in my apartment.  I had a side of instant roasted garlic mashed potatoes along with corn and an entree of reduced fat marco polo chicken breast.  That meal really satisfied a comfort food craving that I had.

To judge by my reflection in the mirror, I feel as though the added protein is already helping to form muscle through my frequent weight training workouts.  I suppose that I could measure my muscles to know for certain but that feels as though it would be a bit vain to do so.  For the last few days, I had seemed to be gaining weight as well which I would expect from building heavier muscle tissue.  However, this morning I had dropped from yesterday's reading of 156 lbs down to 153.2 lbs!  I am not too worried, though.  I feel as though I am on the right track to building a better body and know that frequent weigh-ins are often misleading.

I suppose that I should get back to the task of planning on things to do this weekend.  I don't want to travel to far afield today but hopeful I can come up this something interesting to do that I can blog about later.  :)
