Back Once Again - With the Ill Behaviour

Mar 27, 2005 17:50

Thus, happy readers, I return to my Lj in the continuing quest to keep you all fully up-to-date with what is going on in the world of John.

Firstly, a happy hearty easter day to you all. Let us all join together to celebrate the continuation of the ideas of one man, a religious crackpot in his time, who was killed to hope that his ideas would die.
Only they didn't.
Now, two thousand years later, people still celebrate and practise the life that he lead based on love, equality and peace.
What do we get out of it? well everyone gets an opportunity to eat some chocolate!

Secondary, we now look at the return of Doctor Who. It returned last night and was repeated today on BBC3. So, since the repeat has occured I can now let you know what I thought - Warning this does contain spoilers by the dozen!

well

The opening titles were good, but an ol' guy like me would like the face of the doctor over the name any day of the week. That said, they grabbed me and as we met Rose we soon realised that the writer (Russell T Davis) had got the female role better than many others. As she rushes to work and then ends up in the basement you realise that the tone has changed and as the first manaquine moves then it begins to get slightly spooky. As you think she is in peril, you then find that the doctor appears and from then onwards it goes downhill. That is as they try to establish the role of the doctor and also the awful boyfriend of rose who is not only a poor actor but had an awful part written for him. that said, the doctor showed off some smart ways of going through the motions of serious and comic acting as the hand originaly attacks him. When it then attacks him close up and also the attack on rose os a worse side, in short it is cheese and awful.

Then it gets better as the wheelie bin eating the boyfriend is intreging but also slightly too comic bookish and I do wish that the boyfriend could act, cause the bin eating him would have been fantastic but he spoilt it. That is the last poor moment really

From here it picks up as the relationship between the doctor and rose really takes off after a few false starts. the moment when you get dragged in and feel the click is when they are standing and it is rose who realises that the millenium eye is the key. That click and look does it. there then is moments of real tension as the doctor nearly is tossed into the monster and then the most wonderful ending.

As Rose turns to consider whether or not to go I found myself shouting for her to go...yet she didnt and we really didnt know what to do next.....then when the tardis returns and rose suns towards the tardis I just sat there wanting next saturday , 7pm, BBC1 to be right away. I am hooked (again).

Well that isnt all that has occured to me today - I have also done some uni work, though by no means enough. The second is that I went to church - American style.
I went to a first united methodist church that is in town and the traditional service. this is because I get my spirituality from that sort of thing, not from the modern worship which never works for me. It was interesting and great fun. Yet it didnt qiuet work as it was far too mechanical and a song fest that was far too quick! I never have that problem back home and always was annoyed when it was too slow....but at least I tried it....I suppose it was also the all white congregation that annoys me as well. any area has a wide diversity of people in it, yet many churchs are filled with the white middle class. That is why it is dying in an institutional sense.

No woman update today - cant be bothered

Take Care Y'All
John
