Can't you add a friend into a single custom friend group when you accept their friend invitation?

I should tone my status messages down so that I don't get added to my friends' "People who post TMI status messages" groups.

I will just create one group for the people I actually want to follow on a day-to-day basis. I have lots and lots of Facebook friends where I don't want to follow all their day-to-day updates, it just makes the signal:noise ratio too low.

Agreed. As well it will be nice to say a particular status message to only a select friends list, those who are involved with a certain project or social grouping. I'd use it even more if that was available. The new preview looks good to me.

Replying in reverse order:

1. You can already add a new friend to a friend group upon accepting friend requests (it's part of the dialog flow, I think).

2. It's even better than just filter-by-friend-group.

I was a little confused by your second request since its something that's been on facebook since I started using it . . . I do like the new page since its something I've been wanting as well.
