I'll just ramble a little bit about last night's Glee episode.
1x14 - Hell-O
First things, I am in love with Lea and Jonathon. I think they have fantastic chemistry on the screen and you just feel them together. Here be spoilers that I've read/heard speculated, so skip the rest of this paragraph if you don't want to hear it. I have heard that he joins New Directions, but with Shelby watching them kiss and Jesse knowing this, I do believe that he is a spy at this point. Along with that, I think I've read that Sue also talks to him to break the group up via Rachel. After talking it over with Amy, I think he's going to actually fall for her, even though he starts out as a spy. But, I think the demise of their relationship will be their individual strive for success and fame. He'll still be affiliated with Vocal Adrenaline and she with New Directions. This is my thinking. Anyone?
On to Will and Emma. Firstly, I swooned when he dipped into kiss her and just left her sitting there in her office. Her face was priceless. When Will found out that she is a virgin, I think he could have been a little more supportive. I didn't think it was that big of a surprise, so... Maybe that's just me. I do not blame will for having the make-out session with Shelby. As I've read interviews with Matt Morrison, he states himself that he's (Will) has been married to the same woman for his whole adult life. He hasn't experienced anyone else, so give the guy a break. I know everyone is HOW-COULD-YOU, but really! Think about it. However, the line that he says ("I'm seeing someone, but it's not really working out.") rubbed me the wrong way. I hate to think that Emma telling him she's a virgin would make him think it's not working out...
I love, love, LOVE Idina in this. I think her role is perfect for her and I can't wait to see her character flesh out more in the coming episodes. You know they'll have her sing. I think they'll keep us waiting for that, though. For those viewers who know who she is, it will be worth the wait, I'm sure. For those viewers who do not know who she it, it will be an extremely pleasant surprise. Shelby may be playing nice with Will, but I'm sure that's all a facade.
Finn/Rachel. Eh. I do like that it's turned around now. I like that Finn is looking to pursue Rachel and she's actually ~attached~ to someone else. I'm just getting a little tired of this storyline.
A HUGE WTF. Why did Quinn have no lines? She was there, but zipped lipped? Really? She's one of my favorites and got nothing. I'd heard from someone who saw one of the previews that this was the case, but I was hoping for at least a little something. Come on now.
The episode overall left me a little lacking. Of course, I enjoyed it, but I also credit this towards it being off the air for the past 4 months. I almost felt like it moved too slowly, even though a decent amount happened in this episode. They introduced a mess of new storylines and a two new characters, but I still feel like it was very slow to happen. I DID enjoy the episode though and I can only hope that the episodes improve through the coming weeks.
The show premiered to intense numbers (something like 13 million) and easily took the night. Where the episode was mildly lacking, I hope that numbers don't drop next week. With the enticement of the Madonna episode, I think that numbers will hold.
Favorite line? "Did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?"
Favorite performance? "Hello, Goodbye" though super credit to Cory for doing a fantastic job with "Hello, I Love You". He sounded great, where in the past I feel he's sounded pretty weak.
peace.
