Reorganizing and Prioritizing
I've been getting frustrated as of late with my relative lack of progress on the various things I've been trying to do. The problem is that I keep jumping back and forth between various projects (and getting distracted with other things), and in the process have been largely failing to actually get anywhere with many of them. So I've decided, as this journal title indicates, that it's time to do some prioritizing! I've listed out all of the projects I've been wanting to work on, and sorted them into three overall groups as follows:
High Priority - These are the things I'll be actively working on.
Medium Priority - These are being set aside for now, and will likely move into the upper group as those projects are completed.
Low Priority - These are the things that are being shelved for the forseeable future, and may very well be abandoned altogether. 'Cause if I don't surrender something, I'll likely fail to get virtually anything done.
Note that this journal is being cross-posted into both my deviantART account and my livejournal, as neither gets updated nearly often enough (especially the latter). Thus, this entry will include projects and goals described previously in both of them, and since I don't believe these two journals share any readers, chances are that anyone reading this entry will find unfamiliar projects here.
High Priority
The Kingdom for Keflings Picture - As something I've been meaning to finish since January, this is my highest priority project.
A Secret Project - This is something I've had in mind for about a month now that I haven't actually started yet. I suspect this is something that I wouldn't be able to discuss publicly even after completing it, but I feel it's a very important thing to do.
R63 Doctor Whooves remake - My first deviation was uploaded on June 17th, 2012, meaning that it's been almost a year that I've been active here. I would like to commemorate that by actually re-creating this picture, both to actually indicate what's going on there (as explained in it's description) and to show how far I've come in a year. Listed as a high priority because June 17th, 2013 is twelve days away.
BronyCon Planning - Something I might want to get working on, as I don't think trying to get tickets and what-not at the last minute is going to be feasible...
Medium Priority
The Lusty Seapony RP Group Picture - Otherwise known as my planned 100th upload. Listed only as a medium priority mainly because my current upload count is only 62. For the record, the list of ponies that will be present in this picture has changed, due to changes in how I determine who will be present. I (should) have a journal detailing this uploaded in the near future.
Nocturne Star's Bio - A fully updated version of my ponysona's woefully out-of-date Character Ref and Bio.
Nocturne's RP Knowledge - A document I've been slowly working on containing a list of all the characters Nocturne has met in the above rp. This document is highly unlikely to be displayed publicly at any point, but it will be quite useful for updating the bio. And more importantly, it will cut down on how much research I need to do during an rp scene to try to determine what Nocturne actually knows about his current scene partners.
DShou's 100 Drawings by the End of the Year challenge - Listed as a medium priority because it's not something I'm gonna push myself to complete. Rather, it's something where I'm wondering how far I'll end up getting.
Low Priority
The NATG III - (Link goes to the second NATG, as the third hasn't been actually announced yet.) I don't think I'm going to be able to create pictures for the full 30 days as I had wanted to, simply because it would bring a halt to pretty much all other projects. The main conflict would be with the Lusty Seapony picture; a full 30 days would mean 30 new uploads, putting my current upload count to 92. This would give me only a seven picture leeway for creating that massive group picture for #100, so I fear that the NATG is something that I'll need to give up. Note that I won't be skipping it completely. I do want to do pictures for at least some of the prompts, and fully intend to do another All of the Above pic for day 30. That was just too much fun to skip this time.
Warhammer 40K Army Creation - My interest in playing Warhammer 40K has been waning as of late, so shelving this project (for the time being at least) is a pretty easy decision to make.
Borderlands-style Fallout 3 Mod - A mod for Fallout 3 based on some of the location setups in Borderlands 2, particularly those that appear early on. Which basically means ramshackle buildings built on top of each other. While this project is being put off for a good while, Fallout 3 modding in general will still happen. I'm actually planning to create a mod that will work as a stand-in for the interior shot needed for the Lusty Seapony RP pic. Vector-tracing a screenshot of this will allow me to create a custom background for the picture that'll actually have proper proportions without just looking like a screenshot from the show.
#250 Upload Milestone Grand Picture - Definitely still want to do this, but it's definitely a low priority due to the need to create nearly 200 deviations to reach this milestone.
So that's the current organization for my various plans. Hopefully, this will help me focus on specific projects more readily. Note that it's currently past 4AM, so don't be surprised if I end up editing in forgotten items later...
