I knew it had been a while since my last post here, but I didn't realize it had been over three months! As the title says, time for an overdue update. And the simple fact is that these goals have been largely trampled by a herd of ponies.
I have gotten into creating MLP fanart big-time, having created thirty nine drawings since mid-June. This has, of course, taken up a fair amount of my free time. And my interest in this particular pastime remains strong: I recently got my broken XBox 360 replaced, and got Borderlands 2 as well, and even this hasn't pulled me away from my new hobby to any major degree. Not surprisingly, I have not gotten a lot of work done on my three goals. At this point, I find it highly unlikely that I'll be able to complete the goals as is, so I think it's time to change things up a bit. And run with that aforementioned herd.
Goal #1) Picture #50 - As mentioned in my last journal entry, I have been uploading my pictures to the online art community known as
deviantART. Now, each user's profile on this site conveniently lists how many creations that user has uploaded to their account, and some artists have been known to plan out special creations for various milestones in their upload count. And, as the title of this goal clearly suggests, I'm planning to follow suit. The creation I intend to be my 50th upload will actually be a decent sized comic strip, containing a total of 18 panels. It will also be the most complex thing by far that I've attempted to draw. I'm estimating that I'll complete picture #49 (whatever it may end up being) by mid-December. If I have this comic ready by that point, I will indeed have this goal complete by the Aztec-inspired deadline. Note: this will be replacing the previous Space Marine painting goal, as both are artwork-related.
Goal #2) The Fallout 3 Mod - I have done nothing on this, as of yet. So I think I'll be scaling back my earlier plans, as my initial thoughts of expanding/reworking on of the game's settlements would require more time than I now have. Instead, I'll be going with the idea of adding another 'dungeon' to the game, specifically a ramshackle, multi-level raider encampment inspired by some of bandit camps that appear early on in Borderlands 2. And since the vast majority of multi-level areas in Fallout 3 are interior locations, the simple fact that this will be an exterior location means it will qualify as 'a mod of some significance'.
Goal #3) The Secret Goal - This currently sits at almost precisely 0% complete, at the moment. Last time I gave a percentage for this goal, it was sitting at 8%. Obviously, I fallen back on this; indeed, due to its basic nature, this goal could even drop into the negatives. At this point, I feel even more certain than I had in the past that this goal will fail, but I'm still curious about where that percentage will be on the deadline, so I will continue to track it.
Goal Progress summary:
Goal 1 - The comic has been planned out, and work has begun on the first of the two background images that will be used for the individual panels.
Goal 2 - I have an idea. That's about it.
Goal 3 - As stated above, currently down to 0%.
