Weird day that started out as usual with the gym and shopping for groceries and a light fixture to replace the shorted out one in the living room.  I waited on replacing the fixture as it involved moving a ladder several times and maneuvering 4 foot fluorescent tubes.  I confess to a few vehement expletives, but after grappling, I foreced it into submission.  Let there be Light!  While I had the ladder out, I also changed the burned out bulb on the front porch.  Go me!

A nap happened and a couple of ibuprofens.  My backside didn't react well to four hours in the driver's seat yesterday, but that is all under control, so that, except for the usual aches and pains, all is well.

Jim called in the afternoon.  This was unexpected, but a woman ran a red light and smacked into the left front of Jim's car as he was making a legal turn.  Lucky, he sustained no injuries, but his car--reliable transportation sustained some damage.  It was towed to a lot to await a determination from the car insurance people.   It is probable that the car will be junked and he will be reimbursed maybe $500.  I suggested he get a loaner car.  That was my thought when we still hoped the car might be salvageable.  But I thought it might make more sense to find a car to buy.  So, I tracked down a good one in town and drove Jim over to test drive it late in the afternoon at Skagit Hyundai.  He liked it.  It is $5000.  With tax and title, it will probably be more in the neighborhood of $5600.  It only has 51000 miles and gets reasonable gas mileage.  It is a 2007, so not bad compared to his 1995 model with 150,000 miles on it and probably not really safe to drive now.  So, if it doesn't get sold this weekend, he can likely buy it on Monday or Tuesday.
