First Things First

So, it's the end of the semester.  I have two finals and accompanying assignments due.  Those aren't too worrisome though there is some work I must do for them and studying.  Then we are going on vacation to Tucson for 5 or 6 nights.  Due January 15th is the Masters Application.  I've decided to apply for advanced standing, which means skipping the first year which is the jr and sr bachelors year anyway.  I may or may not get selected.  If I don't get accepted for advanced standing then I will happily work for a  year and a half and try again the following year.  In some ways I would prefer to do that, because it would give me a better idea of what concentration I'd like to pursue.
I could go on rambling indefinitely about the pros and cons of pursuing the two particular concentrations, but I've realized that's putting the cart a little bit before the horse.   I think it's enough to say that I'm uneasy about even jumping into the masters program right away, let alone choosing a concentration. I could also go for a simple generalist clinical masters degree without a concentration and have time for interesting electives.
First Things First as they say in the 12 Step Programs.  And those first things happen to be passing my last two finals and doing the first part of the masters application so that I can secure a recommendation from one of my professors.  Then the second part of the application, the one for advanced standing, which means watching a movie to use the main character as an example client for a psycho social assesment. Today I didn't do any of that and that's okay.
Today I had a snuggly morning with Gen and then we went on an adventure around town. First to Golden Pride for burritos, and then an Estate Sale where Gen picked something up for her new horology hobby.  Horology!  No, that's not what it sounds like.  It's the science of time keeping and time keepers, the special name clock tinkerers give themselves.  Gen and I found the perfect starter clock for her to fix, an early 1900's Seth Thomas mantle clock. She just blogged about them and featured a picture I took. I love the one with the movement (gears).  http://genhawk.livejournal.com/235929.html
In other adventures, we adopted a couple of cats a few weeks ago.  We only wanted to get one.Due to a mixup and a spiritual promise to take the cat I thought Gen wanted that turned out to be a different cat, we wound up with two.   And oh, how exciting it's been in our office, where we initially gave the new cats a place to hide out and get comfortable.
