creative surge - calling all loom knitters

So on my lunch break today I ran to the thrift store(Savers). My sis loaned me last year's Isaac Mizrahi satin stripe tux pants and matching blazer for my company "holiday dinner" this Thursday nite. I need a top to wear, in case it's too hot to leave the blazer on, or at leat so I can unbutton the blazer. I bought three shirts (one with the tags still on) and a silver satiny bag with the tags still on all for under 7 bucks! Man I love thrift stores. But I don't know if any of the shirts will work (not until I get home). If they don't, I don't know what I can wear.

So I'm brainstorming, and searching the web for ideas when I see one where you can make a tube top from a t-shirt. Not a bad idea, but it gave me even another thought. I do most of my circular knitting on looms, and my flat knitting on straight needles. I wonder if I used the Xlarge loom if I could just knit a tube top? I have some really cool yarn that I know would only take a single ball or less to do it, but would it fit? I wear a 14-16 depending on the brand of clothes, but with no arms or sleeves I can generally wear smaller, so what do you think? Any other loom knitters out there? Would this work, and more importantly, could I get a long enough tube loomed in less than 48 hours?????

Any other suggestions? I just don't want to wear the typical white shirt with the tux. I'd rather wear a silver tank or something, you know?

Now that I think about it, to be on the safe side I could knit it flat and then sew it into a tube, that way I could be sure it fit, and I could use two strands of yarn on big needles to knit it faster! hah! Maybe I'll try this after all?

Any other suggestions? Anyone? anyone? beuller? beuller?
