Not too much new here.
I have two work-related gift exchanges tomorrow, one I drew a name and the other we draw numbers and people just pick a pkg from the pile. For each the max cost is $15. For the person whose name I drew I assigned a coworker to do some detective work and she found out her favorite wine, and I bought her a bottle of that. I'm also about a third of the way through a wine bottle bag/cozy that I am knitting for the bottle. Not using a pattern, but just sort of making it up as I go to custom fit it to the bottle. That takes care of that gift. For the other, last year I took a matching hat &scarf set that I loomed, but this year I am not sure what to take and since it's tomorrow I don't have time to make anything else, as I promised to help Phebe bake cookies tonight to bag up for her friends. I dug through my drawer of UFOs and unassigned FOs and came up with the "Pretty n Punk" scarf I blogged about here
http://jewells68.livejournal.com/8548.html as well as one or two finished cotton wash cloths and another scarf out of an apricot-colored, super-soft novelty yarn. I was thinking maybe tying a pretty ribbon around the washcloth and adding some perfumed soaps I have on hand. Or maybe one of the scarves and a little giftbag of cookies? What do you think? Any other suggestions?
Pkgs were shipped to my bro, my sis-n-law, and ofenjen and fam this past Monday, thanks to a little help from my DH. They were not shipped priority, but the two TX pkgs have a good fighting chance of reaching their destinations by xmas eve, if not by this Sat. I honestly don't think my sis-in-law, who lives in a small town in Oregon, will get hers until in between xmas and new year's eve. But the goal of shipping by the 17th was realized, of which I am very proud, being the procrastinator that I am. Even sent out a few cards, one to my other bro in MO, to former boss Ed in Alpine, and my niece in Chicago. *pats self on back* The rest will have to be New Year's cards. (Folks getting pkgs have a card with the pkg).
And I am posting this while eating my lunch at work, because I am taking my lunch break when I pick Phebe up from school and taking her to get one of her xmas presents, a set of roller blades. So this one won't be under the tree, but I think it's important to make sure they fit properly, and this way she'll already have them in time for the school trip Friday to Roller King. As the only item on her gift list that will get her off her behind and actually outside getting exercise, I am all for this gift. Maybe I'll even get a pair for myself, who knows??
Oh, and we got the Simpsons movie yesterday and watched it last night. Too. Funny. It was just what it should be: a holariously funny episode that just happens to be really long. Warning. Do NOT drink cocoa while watching this movie unless you want it coming out of your nose. Ouch! lol
