So today is my daughter's 10th birthday. I took the day off to fix her a special early breakfast, let her watch the dvd of her choosing (while I catch up on laundry and dishes), and then take her to lunch with her aunt and grandmother, followed by a multi-generational girls' trip to the mall. :)I originally asked for the entire week off, as I have days I need to use before year's end, but was told we couldn't take off. Then I learned that the two other credit managers in my department, one in LA and one in Houston, both took tomorrow off, leaving me covering the entire country. So I took today off anyway, so there. :P
Her party went well this weekend, especially considering we were late to our own party! I didn't think it would take so long to get there, I wasn't up on all the construction on that side of town. 7/10 of the invited kids showed, so it was a good final fling for her. Everyone seemed to have a good time, Planet Fun was cool. The playground is like a giant McDonald's playground, only much bigger and better. There's a giant two-story playhouse, and then a big maze-like play area filled with ball pits, funjump tramp, and tunnels to crawl around in. And it's designed big enough that grownups can go in too, just can't jump on the inflatable tramp floor. A good finish to the whole birthday party scene. Starting next year, Birthday's are going to be small family gatherings. If she wants to invite a friend to the movies or something, that would be ok, but no more parties, I think, atleast not for birthdays. I've been thinking it would be fun to host a Halloween costume party, or even a New Year's party for her friends one of these years. Not big, but games, music, and friends. Just a thought.
Trip to Miami went ok, though it would have been nice to get to at least see something a little more than just the hotel and offices and airport. I must admit, the hotel they put us up in was very nice. It's a very old hotel all done in ARt Deco, with statues and beautiful furniture and rooms. It's part of a French chain, called Sofitel. Cool deco chaise in the guest room, too. And I got hooked on yet another form of caffeine, Cuban Coffee. It's so strong they serve it in tiny, almost thimble like cups. Some serve it sweet, some not, either way it rocked. Apparently it's normal coffee, it's all in the way they roast the beans. It's the roasting method that comes from Cuba, not the coffee. Rocket fuel! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
