I was going to do a poll on this but gave up after the first question. l couldn't think of any pithy questions and answers. lol
When is everyone arriving in New Orleans for PR? My hotel reservations are currently for Thurs nite through Monday morning. I need to book my award ticket for my round trip soon so I know i have a seat, and the only flight that will get me there in time to freshen up for the Overture dinner is one that gets in at 1:35pm, so no real choice there. I know some folks are driving, have you already made plans on when you plan to arrive?
I figure if I get in at 1:35, by the time I get my luggage and get to the hotel it will be check-in time (3pm). If anyone else is flying in and will be arriving within 30-45 minutes on either side of my arrival and wants to share a cab, let me know. I figure I'll see some attendees arriving while I'm at the airport if I look for the telltale signs of wizards and witches. ;D And people driving their own cars, if you get there early, you could drive to the airport, stand by baggage with a PR sign and charge 5-10 bucks cash until you fill all your seats and make a little extra cash for some much needed hurricanes. lol
As for departure, I know the conference is officially over at 1pm, and I have the choice of flying out at 3pm (only one stop), 4:25pm (2 stops), or 6:25pm (change planes in Phoenix? - that's odd). The shortest flight is of course the one that leaves at 3pm, which would mean I would have to book it to the airport basically the INSTANT the conference ends. I'm leaning toward the 4:25pm, cause I'd still get in at 8pm barring delays, and that would give me a LITTLE more leeway in getting to the apt after lunch/brunch. so the same offer still stands on the cab going back. I'm sure there'll be plenty of other withces and wizards willing to chip in to share a cab. There is an AP shuttle that's not too expensive, but if you have at least 3-4 people it's cheaper to take a cab I think. Plus returning on the shuttle you have to get on like 3-4 hours before your flight takes off, and that wouldn't be necessary in a cab. Of course, if the folks driving their own cars want to make extra gas money for the trip home they could always take a carload of fliers to the apt before leaving town. ;D
Finally, checkout time is at noon, and the conference isn't over until 1pm. So unless one of us is staying on another night (so we could stash our stuff in the room), or we can find a way to talk them into extending the check-out time, 500-1000 people will want to lock their luggage up with the concierge while we have brunch. lol I think I'm going to post on the PR msg brd to see if they can arrange for a later checkout time on Monday for attendees. I figure most attendees will be checking out Monday, so maybe they can work it out. Can't hurt to ask, right?
