Fabric Friday - Scrappy Treasures

Apr 22, 2011 06:10

A few weeks ago, or maybe more the way time has been flying, I "discovered" a quilt store that was a little far for a lunchbreak trip, but definitely worth a Saturday trek, Quilts Ole, http://quiltsole.com   in Corrales, NM. It was kind of like a tardis in that is was DEFINITELY bigger on the inside. I was gobsmacked by the variety and selection of fabrics. I mean, all 50 colors of Fairy Frost? It was awesome. While there I grabbed a 5.99 bag of scraps, because I was starting to reuse fabric in my Project of Doom and really wanted something new, and there seemed to be a great variety in their scrap bags.

When I got that bag home I dumped it out to sort the scraps by color. These "scraps" were nothing fo the kind! The majority of the pieces of fabric were almopst perfect fat quarters! not quite as perfectly shaped, clearly lefotver from cutting for customers, but pretty decently large pieces of fabric. for piecing. I was so happy with my purchase. And they had crammed over a pound worth of fabric in that bag let me tell you.

I also found several little gems that made me smile. there were some that would be great in a scrappy baby or kid quilt, I set those aside for Project Linus, and there were several pieces that I also set aside for fussy cutting or trying to figure SOMETHING out to do with. The Glenda the good with will be good for fussy cutting for something. Both of the fabrics pictured below are at least 8" square...

And I don't what it is that makes me love this pice of a panel so much but I really do. If anyone knows what this is please let me know because I would love to see the rest of the panel or line of fabric (no selvage on this one to track by)... I really like this a lot. It's rather fairy-tale-esque, don't you think?

Happy Friday!
