Many, many years ago, I bought a cassette tape (yes, that many years) from a science-y type store in the mall in Shreveport. It wasn't a Discovery Channel store, although it became one before it closed entirely. It was whatever was before that. Anyway, this tape was of pan flutes and ocean sounds, and the cover was beautiful and the tape was white

When I was younger, I had a similar insomnia cure. It was a lovely CD of Celtic songs (mostly lullabies) called Along Quiet Lines played on things like mandolin, hammered dulcimer, twelve-string guitar...I listened to it almost every night when I was having trouble sleeping. Then it got horribly scratched up all over my favorite tracks. The internet had been unhelpful: not on Amazon, not anywhere, which wasn't too surprising given that I'd gotten it at a ren faire when I was eight or so.
But. Last weekend I hunted for ages looking for both composer's names and got the contact info for the one who had other music (but not my CD) in his download store. He was super-nice, told me the reason it was missing was that it was a compilation, and that all of the songs were available in his download store. :-D I'm ordering them all tomorrow when I have time, so now I will have super-pretty Celtic joy again!

(yes, I suck at HTML). This: http://www.gracenote.com/search/album_details.php?tui_id=638fe601261c23d2
is the tracklist for Along Quiet Lines, since the tracks are all scrambled up. His shop has the option to buy the songs as a gift from the artist (whoo free!) If you just want to try a few, I recommend La Rota and Sligo Maid: it may just be because they were early on the CD, but they always sounded so smooth and flowing to me. Later on the CD...Sunset Reel and Sheets of Rain are both nice. It's hard to pick because to me they're all sort of one long lullaby. ^_^
Is Rhapsody the best place to find yours?

I remember that tape! I remember on the weekends I would sleep in your room on the top bunk and we would read into the wee hours of the morning. Remember, oneesan?
