Went on a road trip Friday/Saturday. Glenn and I met up with some school folks to check out Just Surrender's CD release show in Poughkeepsie. Let me just say...It was a good time by all. I got to see my boy Adam "Quarters" Young, and many hugs were exchanged. Nicholas Stark and his sibling Sir Chino of the Land of Cort also graced us with their presence. That was a pleasure, as always. They brought a friend named Gloria. She is one of two girls I have met from the state of TN; and both of them rawk. Maybe I need to move down South or something. Anyway, Scott was also there with his gf Tiff. Before the show, we met up again with a few of the guys in the band, and their tour manager Schild. They were as curteous as always. All of us piled into Club Crannell and it was a shade below 8,000 degrees...Celsius. We were all sweating bullets. Needless to say, the guys put on an ill-nasty show. They played nine songs, which was a first for them. They're not used to having 10 songs to choose from...It used to only be 4 or 5 songs. And with the heat being what it was, I give them a lot of credit for playing everything balls to the wall. Some retarded 14 yr old boys got kicked out for being "hardcore". They were very proud of themselves. But can I just say something? You don't punch people at a Just Surrender show. You're a fucking pussy. Go pull your shit at a hardcore show and see what happens. You'll get you're little "anarchist" asses kicked by people who understand the greater good.
After the show, my friends and I all went to the Palace Diner, which is across the street from Marist. Some people got milkshakes. Other people got eggs. I got chocolate chip pancakes, but Gloria did too...She stole my flapjack thunder. Adam Young needs to stop talking on the phone sometimes. However, I still love him. After eating, Nick, Chino, and Gloria took off for home. But the rest of us went to go crash somewhere else. Just Surrender's road manager, Schild, was throwing a party at his house. We went, and were offered a place to stay or the night. He set us up real nice. Shit like that gives me hope for humanity. It just ended up that the band came over, and everyone smoked out back. My crew rolled gangsta style...We watched Sportscenter and fell asleep.
I was awoken at 9am after 6 hrs or so of sleep. We headed for home, not knowing where we were going. Needless to say, all of us ended up in Connecticut. That was okay for Scott and Tiff cause they needed to go that way...But not for the rest of us. We had to keep going, catch 84 in Danbury, and go back towards Poughkeepsie. I ended up going about an hour and a half out of the way. Oh well. I'm home now. My parents are gone for the weekend, and my 17 yr old brother thought it'd be super fun to have a big boy party with alchol and all that stuff. He spent the money that was given to us for food...He bought pizza for his cool kids party. Needless to say, I am pissed. I need to buy some food tomorrow.
I bought a shirt. It says: "Poughkeepsie Is For Losers". I love it. I saw custom handbags and thought of Anna after the fact. She probably would have loved one, but it took me 4 hrs to realize it.
I visited my RD before the concert. Apparently, Marist is letting in 150 more freshmen than the school can acommodate. That's fucking bullshit. They're turning lounges into quads, and may take our RA office. Fuck that. The President said we were staying the same size, then this shit happens. I know admissions is also to blame, but he represents the school as a whole. Shame on you, Dennis Murray. Marist is not perfect...By any means.
Jack's Mannequin comes out August 23rd. Do yourself a favor and get it. Andrew McMahon has been declared the "Billy Joel" of our generation by several credible music outlets. You can't touch Mr. Joel, but Andrew is fucking killer.
Let's make out and shit.
