Why I love the internet (Part One)

The other day I arrived home with my new After-Christmas Sale Levis to discover an unwelcome hitch-hiker had made the trip with us - attached to the jeans was one of those anti-theft ink-loaded white mushrooms - firmly locked onto the cuff.
After ranting a bit about driving back to Penney's with my (deeply discounted) jeans - I thought..."someone else has had this happen...someone devious enough to blog about it."
A quick Google search for "tag anti theft removal" brought up a simple website devoted to the process.
It included photos, a nice cross-section and a lot of step by step instructions for the removal of tags...accidentally left on your clothes.
(In a nutshell, cut off the top of the mushroom, pull out the innards and the thing comes apart) Not having a Dremel Tool handy I used a small saw.
Yes, there was ink inside, in two thin vials - and a magnetic strip that failed to set off any alarms - most likely (the author guessed) because it was old or damaged.
It took about five minutes, and was really very satisfying.
