I got Felicity to buy me one along with the rest of the office this morning. I know I'm a bad girl. Had a nice cruisy ride in to work. As if everyone was trying to make up for all the negativeness about cycling today... I had an old lady in an electric scooter (which looked like it was struggling to get up the hill) wave and say hello. I went to stop for a car coming out of a driveway but the driver stopped and smiled and waved me on. She was cute too. And then at the overpass I had a lady stand to the side as we hit the corner and then say she thought I had a cool helmet. I said 'I ride everyday, so I gotta spend my money on something'. Hahahah.
Really seriously considering getting a leather saddle. Reading about them and that leather 'breathes' makes me want one! and considering that bike only gets left in low theft risk locations these days, having $100 saddle doesn't phase me too much. There is a guy on ebay making Brooks copies and he has had good feedback so far. Would mean that I wouldn't lend my bike to CSers - but hey, I wasn't that comfortable loaning her out the first time. I mean, there are other bikes in the stable now and said couchsurfer marvelled at how well maintained the bike was - I was like, well yeah, I ride it 3 to 7 days a week (round trips from 4 to 18ks, damn I've become such a softie!), one would want it to be well maintained.
My old steel framed roadie. OH I am so undecided about it. Today on the way to work I was thinking - new wheelset, make it a proper singlespeed, then I'll ride it more. But do I want to spend the money? I've never ridden a steel bike really - except for when I was first learning and we had a couple of old 24" steel bikes.... and people talk endlessly about the comfyness of steel frames.
