I've ordered a harmonica, it looks simple enough to teach myself how to play. It only cost $46 including postage so really it's not a huge gamble. I don't know if I'll be able to play well, my efforts on the guitar haven't been great, but it will be an awesome instrument to have on the road and will also be useful for entertainment if worse comes to worse and we end up having power cuts because of this gas shortage.
News on the gas shortage is that the federal government has stepped in assuring liquid fuels if necessary but those are increasingly expensive! We bought a couple of gas bottles, so now we have two and a half bottles of gas, 45kgs each. We seem to go through them quickly though.
We have a couchsurfer coming tomorrow. I'm going to pick him up from the train station tomorrow. He's a Dutch guy and he has streams and streams of 'Very Positive' experiences. He's been traveling for 7 months. He will be our third actual couchsurfer, though I've fielded inquiries from others who haven't turned up yet.
