Possibly, but BH is no less a huge crook - my old room mate worked there and quit because of it - said he couldn't handle the constant pressure to blatantly rip people off in the most unbelievable ways you could think of, and that wasn't even the real behind the scenes stuff either.

They are crooks. I went home to Nashville for the 4th and saw that the Bill Heard locations there were all under new names. It appears that in Tennessee, they were doing car trades with people who had questionable means or credit, and giving the new vehicles to the buyers. Then, within a week, they'd repossess the vehicles, claiming the financing didn't pan out, and the buyers wouldn't get their old vehicle back OR get money to compensate for it.

Needless to say, they were run out of business in Tennessee and heavily scrutinized in the media. I wondered why I had seen nothing about it here.

To me it gives them more credibility- they haven't sued anyone because they need a solid case. This is definitely a solid case.

It is a sad thing that in many markets, the biggest car dealer networks get that way by being the sleaziest and most deceptive ( ... )

Glad to read this. When I was younger and a little more trusting of car dealers, Bill Heard of Nashville ripped me off. I went one day, worked out a decent (though by no means great) deal, they took my trade-in, and I drove off in the new vehicle. The next day they called me to come back because we'd "forgotten to sign some paperwork." When I got there, they put me in an office with some sleazeball who gave me an ENTIRELY NEW CONTRACT to sign, jacking up the monthly payment and adding in an extended warranty that they said the financing company was requiring. Told me flat-out that my choices were to either sign the new deal or come up with the whole purchase price on the spot, as if that were remotely possible. If I'd known better I would have walked out and called a lawyer immediately, but I was still a bit too young and stupid, not to mention in shock over the whole ordeal. A terrible experience that I regret to this day. Torching the entire chain of dealerships would be too good for them.

BH is a joke, that are huge rip-offs. I have never bought any of my cars from a dealer, but I did go to many dealerships before I purchased my truck and I was amazed at how many salesmen thought I was an idiot. I told this one salesman after he wouldn't stop trying to sell my a car that wasn't what I wanted and wasn't nearly enough room for my family " Look, that car is a piece of shit,I don't want it, and there is nothing you can say to make me even remotely like this car, and considering you don't have anything I am interested in, I will be going to another dealer now.
